Ukrainian and Slovak PMs commence talks in Uzhhorod – video

The Ukrainian PM noted that the agenda includes bilateral relations between Ukraine and Slovakia and support for European initiatives. 

"We are counting on a constructive and practical dialogue," added Shmyhal.

Background:

  • Before the meeting with Shmyhal, Fico made a series of controversial statements.

    The Slovak PM particularly mentioned that Ukraine would have to cede part of its territory to Russia.

  • Earlier, when Russia launched a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine, including the city of Kyiv, Fico stated that life in the Ukrainian capital was "totally normal".
  • As a result of Russian strikes on Kyiv, apartments and cars have been damaged and 22 people have been injured, with one person in intensive care in a critical condition, among other things.
