The Security Service of Ukraine detained an 18-year-old resident of Kyiv who was collecting intelligence on the Ukrainian Defense Forces and critical infrastructure in the Kyiv region. The SSU reported on this. In particular, the Russian agent was trying to identify the locations of Ukrainian aviation.

He was also interested in the directions and intensity of flights of Ukrainian military aircraft. According to the investigation, the detainee stayed for several days in a rented apartment near the airfield in the Kyiv region to gather intelligence.

At the same time, the suspect was identifying the locations of the Armed Forces' air defense systems and finding out the accuracy of enemy strikes on energy facilities. It is noted that SSU officers detained the man "red-handed" when he was conducting additional reconnaissance near a power-generating enterprise in Kyiv. The investigation established that the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation remotely recruited an 18-year-old Kyiv resident several months ago.

The man came to the attention of the Russian special services due to "his activity in pro-Kremlin telegram channels, where he approved of armed aggression against Ukraine." "Later, the FSS agent communicated with his Russian curator through an anonymous chat in a popular messenger app. For performing hostile tasks, the traitor received money from the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, which was transferred to his bank card," the statement reads.

The SSU informed that during the searches of the detainee's apartment, they seized a cell phone and a computer with evidence of his correspondence with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. They also discovered a bank card that received funds from the FSS.

The suspect is currently in custody. SSU investigators served the man a notice of suspicion of high treason. He faces life imprisonment.
