Electronic components made by European, Western, Japanese and Chinese companies have been found in the North Korean Kn-23/24 ballistic missiles that Russia fired on Kyiv in February. Background:

  • On 20 February, Conflict Armament Research (CAR), a UK-based investigative organisation, examined 290 components of a ballistic missile that North Korea transferred to Russia to strike Ukraine and discovered that hundreds of them were manufactured by European and American companies.
  • According to media reports, sanctions against the DPRK are to be included in the 13th EU sanctions package.
  • The Security Service of Ukraine stated that Russian forces had launched over 20 North Korean weapons on Ukrainian cities since December 2023, including Hwasong-11 (KN-23/24) ballistic missiles.
