Fixed-wing FPV drones are becoming more popular on the frontline
The Ukrainian military is increasingly using new models of fixed-wing FPV strike drones with a longer range. The video of the use of those drones was released online. The units of the Security Service of Ukraine began to launch day and night attacks on the invader logistics with fixed-wing FPV drones.
The video captures the destruction of Russian equipment by Darts drones in the left-bank Kherson region, some of which were geolocated 15-20 kilometers from the nearest Ukrainian positions. Judging by the video, the new drones are equipped with day and night sensors for operations in various conditions. They are placed in the left wing.
Open sources report that depending on the battery, Darts drones are capable of carrying a warhead weighing 4 kg at a distance of 40-50 km, and their operational radius is 30 km. Russian sources who have already encountered this type of drone note that they are most likely used together with relay drones to operate effectively at maximum distances. Drones are used in groups of several UAVs.
They fly on standard FPV frequencies but do not crash when communication is jammed. The Russians also report that the fuselage of the drone can survive numerous hits from small arms. This aerodynamic design makes it possible to use battery power more efficiently and operate at a greater distance.

A single-engine drone can fly at 60 km/h and reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Based on the data on fundraising for these drones, the approximate cost of one aircraft of this model can reach about UAH 40 thousand (£1100). However, drones with night optics are likely to cost more.
This low cost is due to the widespread use of components similar to those used in traditional percussion FPV drones.
