The MiG factory was on fire in Moscow

A fire broke out at the Russian MiG factory, which produces and maintains fighter jets. The Russian media reported on this. The fire occurred in one of the production shops of the MiG plant.

This site is undergoing reconstruction, but it is located opposite the building of the plant. The 70-square-meter fire was localized on the second and third floors of the building, and all employees were evacuated. The cause of the fire is unknown.

According to local media, as of 2:00 p.m., the fire was extinguished. Currently, the roof of the damaged building is smoldering, and firefighters are working at the scene.

MiG plant

The fire broke out at one of the plants owned by the Aircraft Corporation MiG.

It has a number of production facilities and administrative buildings. The company manufactures a range of aviation products and provides support for aircraft of its own production.

The territory of the plant and the geolocated workshop where the fire occurred

During the Soviet era, the aircraft manufacturer created a number of combat aircraft that are currently involved in the Russian-Ukrainian war. This refers to Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jets, Russian MiG-31 interceptor aircraft, and their modifications carrying Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles.

In April 2021, stalkers entered the territory of this plant and filmed the state of the workshops. They sneaked through a hole in the fence and managed to gain unhindered access to many of the plant's buildings. Bloggers discovered the remains of production tooling, equipment, fuselages of MiG-29 fighter jets, and several prototypes of Russian MiG-AT trainer aircraft.
