This is one of key priorities of the Ukrainian government in 2024. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in his statement. Work is also underway to strengthen the capabilities of mobile AA fire teams.

These groups are primarily intended to repel attacks by Russian attack drones and cruise missiles on important facilities and infrastructure.

"Since the beginning of the year and up to now, 359 Shahed drones have been shot down. The accuracy of our sky defenders, the work of electronic warfare systems, and the support from each of our partners in terms of the sky shield literally save lives.

We are working to increase the effectiveness of our mobile firing groups and to provide much more regions of Ukraine with electronic warfare systems. This is one of the key priorities of the year," Zelensky emphasized. Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said that Ukraine plans to transfer the production of electronic warfare equipment to market conditions.

"We are now working to repeat our success with drones. We want to open the market as much as possible and create competition. We have added EW systems to drone regulations so that companies have margins and it is easier to conclude contracts," Fedorov said in the Elephant podcast on the Diia YouTube channel.

He noted that Ukraine wanted to open the production of electronic warfare systems for entrepreneurs. According to him, companies will compete with each other for contracts from the Ministry of Defense. Fedorov also added that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine had already begun active contracting of electronic warfare equipment.

In December last year, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine authorized new models of Ukrainian-made electronic warfare systems designed to counter UAVs for Army use.
