In his turn, the German chancellor "reaffirmed Germany's unwavering solidarity with Ukraine" and emphasised that Berlin will continue to support Kyiv in the military sphere "in close coordination with European and international partners".

The parties agreed to continue the "constructive dialogue, in particular with a view to global support for a peaceful settlement," the German government spokesman added. Later, Zelenskyy also mentioned this conversation on Telegram. He welcomed the European Commission's approval of the draft negotiation framework for Ukraine's accession to the EU and discussed with the German chancellor the development of defence cooperation and preparations for the Conference on Ukraine's reconstruction in Berlin in June this year.

Quote: "We exchanged views on the results of the conference in support of Ukraine in Paris on 26 February and coordinated positions on the eve of the meeting of the Weimar Triangle leaders to be held on Friday in Berlin with the participation of Olaf Scholz, Emmanuel Macron and Donald Tusk," Zelenskyy added. Scholz's conversation with Zelenskyy took place against the backdrop of the German chancellor's reluctance to supply Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles. Scholz also rejected the idea of exchanging missiles with the UK so that Ukraine could get more long-range weapons.
