Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court granted permission to confiscate assets of former Motor Sich president Bohuslaiev

The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has granted the Ministry of Justice's lawsuit for the imposition of sanctions in the form of asset seizure against the former president of the Motor Sich JSC, Viacheslav Bohuslaiev.   • On 23 October 2022, the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed the detention of the president of Motor Sich JSC and the head of the Department of Foreign Economic Activities of this company: they were suspected of collaboration and complicity with Russia. According to the investigation, these officials acted in collusion with representatives of the Russian corporation Rostec, which is one of the main producers of weapons for the Russian armed forces associated with the Kremlin.

    Under Boguslaev, Motor Sich, which produces aircraft engines, sold its engines to sanctioned companies from Iran.

  • Both criminals were detained by employees of the Main Investigative and Counterintelligence Department of the SSU in October 2022.
  • In May 2023, lawyer Ruslan Volynets stated that the 84-year old former head of the Motor Sich enterprise Viacheslav Bohuslaiev had asked him to include him in a list for exchange with Russia due to his poor health condition and absence of other options of liberation.
  • Bohuslaiev is suspected of collaboration, complicity with the aggressor state, facilitating the activities of a terrorist organisation, and, more recently, opposing the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
  • In February 2024, the Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv extended Viacheslav Bohuslaiev's detention measure, custody without the right to bail, until 18 April.
  • The former president of Motor Sich JSC, Viacheslav Bohuslaiev, and his accomplice had their detention extended without the right to bail until 10 June 2024.
