Local city residents published a video of the attack. In addition, according to Russian media, the downed drone caused the explosion at the oil refinery. In turn, the operational headquarters of Krasnodar Krai claimed that at least 10 drones were suppressed by electronic warfare and air defense systems.
According to rescue services, no casualties or injuries among the plant's employees have been reported. "In the Kushchevsky district, a local fire broke out after one of the drones fell, but did not affect any settlements.
Liquidation is underway, there are no casualties or damage," the Operational Headquarters of Krasnodar Krai of Russia stated. Local residents share that several explosions were heard, but no major fire broke out after the explosions. In turn, Russian media reported that the plant suspended its operations after the drone attack.
As it later became known, six drones hit the territory of the oil refinery. The attack took place on the night between May 18 to 19, at about 5 a.m.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 57 drones were intercepted in Krasnodar Krai. It should be noted that this is not the first time the oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban has been attacked. Militarnyi previously reported that on March 17, 2024, drones hit an oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Krai.
A total of eight drones attacked the refinery, targeting the atmospheric-vacuum oil distillation system.
