The photos with new airfield hangars were published on X. The construction of new hangar structures was noticed on satellite images at the Marinovka airfield, which is located in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation, 300 km from the border with Ukraine. The photos show twelve new hangars, which are a shelter for Su-24 bombers and Su-34 fighter-bombers.

According to the Russians, the development of airfield hangars should ensure the protection of aircraft from the attack drones, as well as from submunitions of the ATACMS ballistic missile. It should also be noted that the use of hangars will prevent satellites and other optical detection means from determining whether the hangar is empty or not. It is currently unknown which materials the hangars are made of, but judging by their appearance, they probably have minimal protection from debris.

Earlier, to protect aviation, shelters were already installed on the territory of the Russian Federation, which were covered with profiled sheets.

The use of profiled sheets to create hangars does not give the necessary protection against debris, since they have a small thickness. It should be noted that due to the lack of specialized stationary reinforced concrete shelters, Russian aviation continues to suffer losses from drone and missile strikes.

Previously, Militarnyi reported that during a large-scale combined strike from May 14 to 15 in the temporarily occupied Crimea, two Russian MiG-31 interceptors were destroyed.

The aircraft were in an air parking lot, where neither hangars nor protective caponiers were installed.
