EU Council approves text of security agreement between Ukraine and EU

The EU Council approved the draft security agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on 25 June. Source: European Pravda, citing a statement by Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib at a press conference on the EU Council's meeting on general issues Details: Lahbib noted that participants of the meeting were preparing for the next summit of the European Council (EU leaders), which will take place at the end of the week in Brussels.

I would also like to note that this morning, the EU Council approved the draft joint security commitments between the EU and Ukraine," she said. Earlier, the media reported, citing a high-level European diplomat speaking on condition of anonymity, that the text of the security agreement between Ukraine and the EU would be approved at an EU General Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg on Tuesday and signed in the coming days, "on Wednesday or Thursday". The media also reported that on Thursday, 27 June, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would arrive in Brussels for the EU summit.

The Ukrainian President's Office announced last week that Ukraine and the European Union had held the final round of negotiations on the bilateral security agreement and that it would be signed shortly.
