Putin urges Ukraine to surrender rather than negotiate, US vice president says
US Vice President Kamala Harris has stressed the need to preserve the rules-based international order, which Russia has shaken with its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. "In contrast, [Russian ruler Vladimir] Putin put forward a proposal yesterday. However, we must be frank: he is not calling for negotiations, he is calling for surrender. The United States is supporting Ukraine not out of charity but because it is in our strategic interest," Harris said.
