A frame from the AM General video AM General has provided Ukraine with a test sample of the Hawkeye 105-mm Mobile Weapon System. AM General representative Mike Evans said that the system had been delivered in April.
It took two weeks to train the crew for the 2-CT Hawkeye MHS. The systems are to be tested on real targets. "We recently put a 105-mm system into Ukraine.
We shipped it in April. This system is destined to become one of the first soft recoil systems in combat. It's going into combat to test on live targets," said Mike Evans.
The Hawkeye light artillery system was developed by AM General and the Mandus Group.
It is a lightweight M20 105-mm howitzer on the M1152 HMMWV chassis. In 2021, AM General received a contract from the U.S. Army to supply two of these lightweight mobile 105-mm howitzers for performance testing.
The unit is equipped with the Soft Recoil system, which reduces the load and weight of stabilizing structures by 50% compared to conventional systems.

The 2-CT Hawkeye MHS lightweight SPG has high mobility, a wide range of transport aircraft and helicopters, including sling transportation and parachute drop. Four hydraulic stabilizers ensure the stability of the platform.
It provides horizontal guidance of 180? (360? if necessary) and vertical guidance from -5 to +72 degrees. The crew consists of four people, but if necessary, two people can operate it.

The fire control system consists of:
- M137A2 sight;
- MG 9000 Digital Fire Control System;
- LN-270 inertial navigation system from Northrop Grumman;
- DFS-02 direct fire camera system from Sekai Electronics;
- S67-1575-76 GPS antenna from Sensor Systems;
- Weibul Scientific muzzle velocity radar system;
- Gunner's display unit from Mandus.
The range of fire is 11.6 km with standard ammunition and 19.5 km with rocket-assisted projectiles. The maximum rate of fire of the gun is eight shots per minute for three minutes, the usual rate is three shots per minute.
The entire range of 105-mm ammunition of the U.S. Army can be used for firing. The weight of the self-propelled artillery system does not exceed 4.4 tons. It is about 5 meters long, 2.4 meters wide, and 2.3 meters high in the stowed position.
The maximum speed is up to 100 km/h, the highway range is 400 km.
