Ukraine's M270 rocket launchers have been adapted for the use of American ATACMS long-range missiles. Ukrainian volunteer Ihor Lachenkov showed the launches of ATACMS missiles from these systems. In the published video, four M270 rocket launchers launch eight ATACMS missiles.

Presumably, the missiles were launched to hit Russian targets in occupied Crimea. On June 24, a series of explosions occurred in Crimea during the night. It is known that the ?enter of Deep Space Communications in the village of Vitino was hit.

US missile systems have different capabilities depending on the ammunition provided.

M270 rocket launchers are capable of launching two ATACMS missiles, unlike HIMARS, which are equipped with only one missile. The rocket launcher is based on a tracked chassis, which allows it to move better over more difficult terrain.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces received these MLRS from the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Italy and France.

At the same time, the French version of the American M270, designated LRU (lance-roquettes unitaire), immediately had software and a modification of the launch platform that allows the use of ATACMS missiles without additional training.

LRUs are equipped with an upgraded EFCS fire control system, a new navigation system (using GPS) and a new communication system.

In May, it was reported that Lockheed Martin would modernize an additional number of M270 multiple launch rocket systems for the U.S.
