This was reported by the Kstovo Telegram channel. The video captures an attack drone starting to dive to hit an object on the territory of the refinery. The video also captures the moment of the explosion, after which smoke began to rise into the sky.
A video from a local resident of Svoboda village, Vadsky district, who recorded an attack drone flying over his house at around 6 am, was also published. According to him, it was flying towards the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kstovo.
It should be noted that the refinery is the largest production site in the city. In addition, the city also has a petrochemical plant that specializes in the production of ethylene, propylene, and benzene.
Previously, the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kstovo was already attacked by attack drones on March 12, 2024. At the time, it was reported that an attack drone had hit the oil refinery directly. As a result of the strike, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise.
Lukoil, the company that owns this Russian refinery, reported that the operation of the processing unit at the enterprise was suspended "due to an incident". However, the company did not specify what kind of incident it was referring to. He also added that the strike caused a fire at one of the oil distillation units.
Emergency services are working at the site, and a fire train has been deployed to extinguish the fire at the enterprise.
