US ambassador to Hungary explains why Orbán cannot call himself “peacemaker”
US Ambassador to Hungary David Pressman stated that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban cannot consider himself a "peacemaker" unless he demands that Russian leader Vladimir Putin ends the war on terms that respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Advertisement:Details: In his message, Pressman refers to Orban's recent meeting with Putin, as well as nine visits to the Russian Federation by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto. "This is not about 'peace' it's about profit, and it's a huge disservice to Hungarians and Hungary's relationship with its Allies. Until Orban insists Putin end his brutal war on terms that respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, he is no peacemaker," the ambassador concluded.
Russian ruler Vladimir Putin hosted Viktor Orban, Hungarian PM, in the Kremlin on 5 July to conduct negotiations and discuss Ukraine, among other things.
He started the meeting by mentioning an ultimatum for Kyiv.
