Major General Jan Dam, Chief of the Royal Danish Air Force, comments that the F-16s, even though they are relatively outdated, have been modernised several times. "Now it's a very advanced aircraft comparable with the best Western fighter jets," he notes. The NATO press service states that Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Norway supply Ukraine with the F-16s.

Background: On 4 August, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, confirmed that the first F-16 fighter jets were already in Ukraine, and showed them to the public at a secret airbase.

Before that Western media outlets reported with reference to sources that six fighter jets were provided by the Netherlands, and a few more would be soon transferred from Denmark.
