This will be the current US president's second trip to Germany in office, but his first state visit.

Biden's first bilateral visit to Germany as US president took place in 2022 when he attended the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau, Bavaria. On 24 September, US President Joe Biden stressed that American support for Ukraine will last until Ukraine achieves a "just and durable peace". During a visit to the United States, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia's war against Ukraine is "closer to the end" than many people think and called on allies to strengthen Ukrainian forces.
