The news was published on the organization's website. The Russian Volunteer Corps, a military-political organization formed from citizens of the Russian Federation and participating in battles against the Russian invaders under the leadership of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, has started recruiting volunteers for contract service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The leader of the organization, Denis Nikitin, said that after joining the service, the Russians and their families would be able to obtain all the necessary documents and grounds for further obtaining Ukrainian citizenship.

"Now being a soldier of the Russian Volunteer Corps means not only honor and glory, but also a legal status on the territory of Ukraine for both the soldier and his family members," he said. Despite the restrictions of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the Russians will be able to obtain new citizenship thanks to the law of 24.08.24 "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons Participating in the Defense of Ukraine."

According to the law, Russian citizens, their spouses and children have the right to apply for citizenship if they have served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine either currently or in the past. Starting from November 24, 2024, the contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine will also become the basis for obtaining a temporary residence permit in Ukraine for a Russian citizen, his wife and children. Citizens of the Russian Federation who serve under a contract may submit documents with an expired passport to the State Migration Service.

If they apply for citizenship, they may simultaneously sign a declaration of unilateral renunciation of Russian citizenship. There is no need to renounce citizenship through the consular authorities of the Russian Federation. For other categories of citizens, the application for Ukrainian citizenship and ongoing cases on any grounds (including origin) are suspended until the end of martial law and for 12 months after its end.

Soldiers of the Russian Volunteer Corps are actively involved in combat operations against invaders and operations on the territory of the Russian Federation. In particular, earlier this year, this particular formation carried out a series of sabotage attacks in the Belgorod and Kursk regions.

The unit is equipped with heavy weapons and armored vehicles, including Russian trophy vehicles.

Militarnyi previously reported that the Russian Volunteer Corps had received modernized Ukrainian BTR-70 armored personnel carriers with the Parus combat module.
