Ukraine defeats Netherlands to reach 2024 Futsal Cup quarter-finals

At a round of 16 match in the 2024 Futsal Championship, which is being held in Tashkent, the Dutch and Ukrainian national teams battled it out for the right to compete in the quarter-final. Ukraine won the match 3-1. The Ukrainian team, coached by Oleksandr Kosenko, scored the first goal in the sixth minute.

An outstanding combination ended in a pass from Abakshyn to Zvarych, who sent the ball into the Dutch goal. Two minutes later the Blue and Yellows could have strengthened their advantage, but the ball hit the crossbar after Mykytiuk took a free kick and it ricocheted away. When half-time came round, the Ukrainians were only slightly ahead.

In the second half, the Dutch were lucky once again when Korsun just missed a save.

Buzambu later equalised after passing the ball to Bukari. However, Ukraine regained the advantage very quickly - Sukhov made a move towards the rival team's half and passed the ball to the right to Melnyk, who sent the ball into the goal from a sharp angle. At the last minute Melnyk scored again, making the final score 3-1.

In the quarter-finals, Ukraine will play the winner of the match between Spain and Venezuela. The match will be held on 29 September in Tashkent. Earlier Brazil became the first quarter-finalist, defeating Costa Rica.
