The Bochkala_WAR Telegram channel reported this. A HIMARS multiple rocket launch system hit the 96L6E radar station at a considerable distance from the frontline. This radar station is the main means of radar detection for the S-400 air defense system, which detects high-altitude and medium-altitude targets.
At the time of the strike, the radar crew was inside the vehicle, which resulted in some of the soldiers being injured. It should be noted that the enemy radar was destroyed in the winter of 2023-2024.
The Defense Forces have recently suffered significant losses to Russian air defense systems, including the S-400 air defense system. Because of this, Russia is adjusting export contracts to provide its own forces with the necessary systems in a timely manner. Militarnyi previously reported that Russia was delaying the delivery of S-400 air defense systems to India due to its own needs.
The last two regimental sets of SAMs will be delivered to India in 2026, as Russia has its own needs related to the war in Ukraine. According to the original plan, the transfer of the last SAM was to take place by April 2023.
96L6E Radar
The radar is part of the S-400 air defense system and operates in the X-band (8-12 GHz), with a maximum range of air target detection of up to 300 km.
The antenna array uses AESA technology, which provides high resolution and the ability to scan the airspace quickly.
The station is integrated into the overall control and monitoring system so it can work together with other radar stations in the system.
