The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on this. This number of people was drafted on October 14-15. North Korean propaganda claims that it was the conscripts' own decision.
"Students from across the country have signed a petition to be drafted and return to military service with the determination to find every disgusting confrontational maniac and criminal and end their lives," the KCNA said.

The day before, North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea, abbreviated DPRK) blew up part of the roads connecting it to South Korea (Republic of Korea). The blowing up of part of the roads on October 15, 2024, was the first stage of the complete severance of all contact with the South.

In addition to accusations of throwing food balls, North Korea accused its neighbor of flying a drone over Pyongyang to drop propaganda leaflets. The North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that South Korean drones were detected in the night sky over Pyongyang on October 3, 10, and 11, 2024.

According to the statement, North Korean forces will prepare "all means of attack" capable of destroying the southern side of the border and the South Korean military.
They will respond without warning if South Korean drones are again detected in its territory.
