Local residents posted relevant videos of the fire on the facility's territory online. The strike on the depot took place on the morning of October 9, 2024, and according to official sources, 12 attack drones were involved in the attack. The Russians report that air defense systems successfully intercepted all the drones, but the falling debris caused a fire at the facility with explosive elements.
In turn, local residents report hearing the sounds of flying fixed-wing drones in the sky near the city, which freely attacked the territory of the artillery depot. It is worth noting that the attacked facility is the 67th Arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate, used by the Russian Ministry of Defense to store artillery shells, anti-aircraft missiles, and rockets for multiple launch rocket systems.

The arsenal is located in close proximity to the city of Karachev and 115 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border. The coordinates of the arsenal are 53.140546, 34.956698. The total area of the attacked facility is 3.5 square kilometers, and satellite imagery suggests that some ammunition was stored in the open air in violation of safety regulations.
The 67th Arsenal near the city of Karachev notably became the fourth facility to be hit by attack drones since the beginning of the fall of 2024, continuing the trend of destroying strategically important artillery weapons storage facilities of the Russian army. As a reminder, on September 18, 2024, attack drones attacked the territory of the military unit 541690 (107th Arsenal) in the city of Toropets, Tver region, where a significant part of the Russian military's artillery weapons was stored.
On Sunday, September 22, local authorities reported that operational and special services "continue to work at the depot's site." People are finding fragments of ammunition scattered during the explosions 10 kilometers from Tikhoretsk.
Due to significant damage and strong detonation, the arsenal, which had special shelters for storing artillery ammunition, ceased to exist.
