The Russians have occupied the city of Hirnyk in Kurakhove hromada in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast on 27 October. A new 190-metre-high television tower was constructed in Hirnyk in September 2018, the tallest built in Ukraine since independence, designed to broadcast Ukrainian TV programmes to temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk Oblast.
