Politico reported on this. According to the publication, the White House Office of Management and Budget has suggested that Congress may include this assistance in its decision. By the numbers:

  • £8 billion would go toward the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, for which the Pentagon signs contracts with U.S. companies to arm Ukrainian forces;
  • £16 billion would go toward replenishing U.S. stocks.

The distribution of funds is specified in the report, which journalists were able to review.

It is worth noting that this decision is not yet final, as it has caused serious outrage among Republicans who criticize President Biden's policy toward Ukraine. In addition, last week, the Biden administration informed Congress of its intention to write off Ukraine's £4.65 billion debt. "President Biden will make the case that we need continued resources for Ukraine even after his term is over," Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor, stated.

He also emphasized the crucial role of providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons for both defense and restoration of military capabilities after a possible ceasefire.

"The threat to Ukraine will remain regardless of what happens on the battlefield or at the negotiating table. The United States cannot back down from its commitments to Ukraine, as well as to the 50 countries that we have united to support Ukraine in both Europe and Asia," he added.

Militarnyi previously reported that on November 1, 2024, the U.S. Department of Defense announced an additional £425 million defense assistance package for Ukraine. The package will include air defense systems, missile and artillery ammunition, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons.

It is worth noting the transfer of Stryker armored personnel carriers, which are actively used by Ukrainian paratroopers in the Kursk region.

These vehicles are used to transport personnel to the contact line.
