Following a tender organized by the State Defense Investment Center (RKIK), Nitrotol OU will start producing ammunition in the Emar military town next spring. Three companies participated in the tender: Nitrotol OU, ESTDEFIN Production OU, and Estonian Ammunition Plant OU. The commission selected the best offer based on, among other things, the action plan, the rent for the use of the facility, and the company's turnover.

The action plans of all three companies were realistic and credible, but Nitrotol OU's proposal stood out for its thoroughness, thoughtfulness, and transparency. The submitted action plan, as well as the answers to additional questions, convinced the commission that the company had made thorough preparations and would be able to achieve results within the set timeframe. Production is scheduled to begin at the defense industry mini-park in Emar in spring 2025.

At the same time, work will continue on the state plan to create a large Estonian defense industry park. Previously, Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur stated that in the current security situation, it is necessary to start production of ammunition in Estonia as soon as possible. The winner of the tender will receive an area of about 8,900 square meters with seven warehouses in the Emari military town for five years.

RKIK will ensure the construction of communication systems necessary for the start of production. Nitrotol OU will build temporary production facilities and equip them with the necessary equipment. Estonia will invest about EUR0.5 billion in its military infrastructure over the next four years.

In the first half of this year, Estonia has already invested EUR110 million in these needs.
