Poland leads the way in supporting Ukraine in relation to its GDP

Poland has been ranked first among all countries in terms of aid to Ukraine in relation to its own gross domestic product (GDP). Source: Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne, citing the website of the Polish President's Office Details: According to the data provided by the Polish President's Office, Warsaw's total aid for Ukraine amounts to 4.91% of the country's GDP, of which 0.71% is directed to military support for Ukraine and 4.2% to refugee assistance.

The total value of the transferred weapons amounted to 3.23 billion euros (over 14 billion zloty).

Polish President Andrzej Duda noted that his country acted quickly and effectively at critical moments of the war, supporting Ukraine in the most challenging times. Quote from Suspilne: "About 1,000 pieces of equipment, including tanks and armoured personnel carriers, were among the heavy weapons supplied by Poland. Of the nearly 800 tanks received by Ukraine, over 350 were donated by Poland, surpassing the combined total from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Spain."

Details: The first batch of T-72 tanks was delivered to Ukraine in the first half of 2022. In January 2023, Poland announced the transfer of modern Leopard 2A4 tanks.

In addition, Poland provided dozens of drones for short-range reconnaissance, hundreds of kamikaze drones, and anti-aircraft missile systems. The total amount of ammunition transferred to Ukraine exceeded 100 million units of various types and calibres.

Poland has also supplied 20,000 Starlink kits to support the stable operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Additionally, Polish service centres maintain Leopard, T-72, PT-91 tanks, and Krab howitzers, all of which are actively used by the Ukrainian military. Apart from military assistance, Poland has organised or co-organised over 500 training exercises for the Ukrainian military, including those under the European Union's Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine.

To date, around 25,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained, with 14,500 of them trained as part of the European mission.
