The relevant draft law was published on Monday, November 4. It is noted that the government intends to adopt it during the fourth quarter of 2024. The document refers to an increase in the production of large-caliber shells, which are necessary to strengthen the Polish army.

"The draft law is aimed at creating opportunities for financing measures to increase ammunition production capacity," the bill states.

Increasing the production of ammunition by Polish companies should ensure sufficient stocks in case of a Russian attack. In early October, the Polish group of companies WB Group signed an executive agreement with the Korean company Hanwha Aerospace to establish a joint venture to produce missiles in Poland.

Previously, the Polish group of companies WB Group signed a memorandum with the Korean company Hanwha Aerospace to build a new missile production plant in Poland. The plant plans to produce surface-to-surface missiles, probably for K239 Chunmoo launchers called Homar-K in the Polish version. The new plant will likely produce artillery shells in the future.

Implementing the signed memorandum will give Poland autonomy in supplying a significant part of missile and artillery ammunition.

It is also unknown whether the plant will be designed to meet the needs of the Polish Armed Forces or will also be export-oriented.

In addition, Polish defense companies are working on acquiring new technologies that will increase the production of ammunition.
