Lasconi said that Georgescu is an open admirer of Vladimir Putin and openly opposes NATO and the EU. She called for unity around her to destroy Moscow's dreams. Quote from Elena Lasconi: "He is for the isolation of Romania, which he calls neutrality.
He wants to destroy everything on which our prosperity rests. Without NATO, we will be at the mercy of Russia. If all the reformist forces rally around the Save Romania Union next Sunday, we can prove that we are stronger than what Moscow dreams of."

With 100 per cent of the votes counted in the first round of the Romanian presidential election, Georgescu unexpectedly came in first place, followed by Lasconi in second. Georgescu is one of the most vocal propagandists of anti-Western ideas in Romania, arguing that the EU and NATO do not adequately represent Romanian interests and claiming that Russia's war in Ukraine is manipulated by US military companies. Lascani is known for criticising the current Romanian government for its inaction regarding Russian drones that occasionally crash on Romanian territory and has not ruled out a ban on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban from entering Romania.
