Slovak prime minister spouts anti-Western propaganda about war in Ukraine during visit to China
During a visit to China on Friday, 1 November, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico blamed the West for Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and praised Beijing's "peacekeeping" efforts instead. Source: European Pravda citing RTVS Details: After talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Fico said that both leaders share the view that "it is impossible to immediately end hostilities while Ukraine continues to receive military and financial support from the West to continue the war".

He also announced that Bratislava would join the group of Friends of Peace at the UN, which is led by China and Brazil as well. In addition, Fico criticised the European Union, which continues its military rhetoric, and blamed the West for the escalation. "It was Western politicians who, in April 2022, shortly after the conflict [full-scale war - ed.] began, did everything they could to avoid signing realistically prepared peace agreements, and Zelenskyy's peace plan gathered dust as unrealistic, and instead of its new version, the Ukrainian president is presenting a Victory Plan," he said.

Instead, it calls for a "cessation of hostilities, non-escalation of the conflict and its non-proliferation to new territories". Almost 17 countries, including NATO member Turkiye, have joined the Sino-Brazilian Friends of Peace initiative. Hungary and Switzerland, which hosted the first Global Peace Summit, also expressed their desire to join the initiative.
The day before, Robert Fico gave an interview to the notorious Russian propagandist Olga Skabeeva.
