The ambassador emphasised that the Bundestag may make choices even when the coalition collapses and approve future armament contracts.

Quote: "The majority was and remains on our side - an absolute democratic majority," he stressed. Before the collapse of the German government, Chancellor Olaf Scholz proposed an additional EUR3 billion in military help to Ukraine. The coalition factions, the Social Democrats and the Greens, are in negotiations with the opposition.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who represents the Greens, supports the aid package.

In particular, this concerns 812 Quantum reconnaissance drones worth EUR153 million, which Ukraine has requested, but which has yet to be discussed in the Bundestag. The preliminary draft of the German budget for 2025 allocates EUR4 billion euros to Ukraine, which is half the amount allocated in 2024. In September, it was reported that the German government intends to provide Ukraine with another armaments package for EUR1.4 billion by the end of the year, despite the fact that the budget for military assistance to Kyiv has already been fully depleted.
