US authorities unofficially confirm first ATACMS strike on Russian territory

US officials have privately confirmed that Ukraine has used long-range ATACMS missiles for the first time against targets on Russian territory. Source: European Pravda, citing The New York Times, CNN and NPR Details: Sources interviewed by journalists did not provide specifics about the use of ATACMS by Ukrainian forces.

However, CNN reported that a Russian arsenal was struck.

Previously, Ukrainian sources had reported the use of these missiles. Media outlets stated that the strike targeted the arsenal of the Russian Defence Ministry's Main Missile and Artillery Directorate in the city of Karachev, Bryansk Oblast. Later, the Russian government also claimed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had allegedly attacked a weapons arsenal in Karachev with six ATACMS missiles.

Officially, the US has not yet confirmed granting Ukraine permission to strike Russian territory with American weapons.
