An attack drone attacked the barracks of the Kadyrov Special Police Regiment in Grozny. Astra published the video of the attack on the unit's territory. The military barracks were attacked by a drone around 4:50 am on December 4, 2024.
So far, there is no official information about injuries or deaths. Chechen official sources also do not comment on the situation related to the drone attack. The unit itself is part of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and is used for special operations in the Chechen Republic. The military barracks are located at coordinates 43.335694, 45.668266.
The satellite images capture a football field and a parade ground for personnel with markings. The Special Police Regiment was established in 2004 and is currently the only special police unit of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Chechen Republic. Its activities include counterterrorism and special operations.
The unit also took part in the war against Ukraine. This is not the first time a drone has attacked the territory of the Chechen Republic. For example, on October 29, 2024, a drone struck the Russian Special Forces University named after Vladimir Putin in Gudermes.

This was the first attack by a strike drone on the territory of the Chechen Republic in the Russian Federation. However, it is currently unclear who launched the drone and what type of drone it was. As a result of the attack, the roof of one of the buildings on the institution's territory caught fire.
The University of Special Forces is Russia's first and only private educational institution to provide professional training for special forces.
It was founded on August 1, 2013, at the suggestion of Ramzan Kadyrov, head of the Chechen Republic, in Gudermes as an international training center for special forces.
In August 2017, it was renamed the Russian Special Forces University.
