A magnitude of 3 points was recorded on December 6, 2024 at 00:48 local time, when, according to monitoring services, the Israeli Air Force launched a missile strike. According to OSINT experts, the strike was on the territory of an ammunition storage facility near the village of Bimalka, about 10 km from Tartus.
The explosion was also recorded 820 kilometers from the epicenter in Iznik, Turkey. The Volcano Discovery monitoring service recorded the explosion at a depth of 5 kilometers.
According to the FIRMS service, which is used by NASA to detect abnormally high temperatures on the planet, the epicenter of the explosion is located at 34.924402, 35.991990.

It is not yet known exactly what weapons were stored on the territory of this facility, but according to OSINT experts, anti-ship missiles, artillery ammunition, etc. could have been stored there. The Russian-made Bastion and Soviet-made Yakhont (NATO codename SS-N-26 "Strobile" - ed.) anti-ship missiles deployed there could have belonged to the 107th Syrian Coast Guard Brigade.
It should be noted that since the overthrow of the Assad regime, Israel has been constantly striking at equipment storage bases, naval bases, ships, aircraft, and more.

According to Israel, all this is done to prevent these weapons from reaching terrorist or paramilitary groups in Syria. Earlier, Militarnyi reported that a massive Israeli strike on the Mezzeh air base in Damascus had destroyed several helicopters and damaged elements of the air defense complex.
