Russia to close Polish Consulate General in St. Petersburg

Details: On 5 December, a note was sent by the Russian Foreign Ministry informing the Polish side that, in response to the Polish authorities' closure of the Russian Consulate General in Poznan on 30 November, the Russian side is withdrawing its consent to the operation of the Polish Consulate General in St. Petersburg beginning 10 January 2025.

The Russian Foreign Ministry added that in recent years, Polish authorities have implemented an "openly hostile policy towards Russia, almost completely dismantled the architecture of Russian-Polish relations built over many decades, and openly declared the need to inflict a "strategic defeat" on our country.
"The Polish side was made to understand that Moscow will react to any unfriendly steps against Russia and will continue to take tough retaliatory measures," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
