The Ministry of Defense is working on a new uniform for the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Maksym Kayola, head of the Central Development and Logistics Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, stated this during the presentation of the "Year of Defense Procurement Reform," a LIGA.net correspondent reports. The Ministry of Defense has already prepared prototypes of flight overalls and special suits. The Defense Ministry is also in the process of finalizing a prototype of flight boots with a special lacing method.

"Another innovation is clothing that protects against detection by thermal imagers," Kayola shared. Among the urgent needs, he highlighted the creation of special suits with built-in knee pads and combat shirts with elbow dampers. The Ministry of Defense also plans to introduce a unified bulletproof vest instead of the eight different models currently in use.

"Unification will simplify the repair and replacement of elements: in case of loss of a chamberband, neck or groin protection, it will be enough to replace only the missing part, rather than buy a new set," the official explained.

Priorities in the reform of military clothing also include the improvement of ballistic helmets.

In November, the State Logistics Operator of the Ministry of Defense announced the procurement of clothing for the Armed Forces for 2025.

The expected value of the procurement is over UAH 2.5 billion.

So far, the SLO has already announced purchases for summer scarfs, tactical combat knee and elbow pads, men's and women's summer combat suits, suit pants, and combat shirts.
