The US has allocated $500 million military aid package to Ukraine

The US Department of Defense announced this. The package includes a wide range of ammunition and military equipment. The assistance is provided under the Presidential Drawdown Authority, meaning that the weapons are transferred from US Army warehouses.

This tranche includes ammunition for HIMARS rocket systems, as well as 105mm and 155mm artillery ammunition.

The Ukrainian military will also receive Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (c-UAS) munitions and High-speed Anti-radiation missiles (HARMs). The aid package includes Javelin and TOW anti-tank missiles, AT-4 anti-armor systems and small arms ammunition.

In addition, the package includes HMMWV vehicles; MRAP armored vehicles; light tactical vehicles; unmanned aerial systems; and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN) protective equipment.

The tranche also includes demolition equipment and ammunition, spare parts, ancillary equipment, services, training and transportation. It is noted that the assistance package was part of an expanded security assistance program announced by US President Joe Biden on September 26, 2024.

This is the 72nd such tranche from the Biden administration, which has been provided to Ukraine since August 2021.

Last week, the U.S. Department of Defense announced a significant new security assistance package for Ukraine worth almost a billion dollars.

This assistance was allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which includes weapons orders from American manufacturers.

Now, the Biden administration is using the remaining funds approved by Congress to provide military aid to Ukraine.
