This order will be financed by the German government, and Rheinmetall will start fulfilling it only in 2026.

It should be noted that the new order is in addition to the previously concluded contract to supply Ukraine with 300,000 rounds of ammunition for the Gepard systems. This ammunition is produced at Rheinmetall's Unterluss plant in Lower Saxony, where production was launched in 2023 in a timely manner. Until today, Germany has handed over 57 Gepard anti-aircraft guns to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and another 13 are planned to be delivered in the near future.

Militarnyi previously reported that German defense giant Rheinmetall was set to supply Ukraine with 155mm artillery rounds. Under the contract signed between the parties, the German company is to start supplying artillery shells in the first half of 2025. In addition to rounds, Rheinmetall has recently signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine to supply 155 mm powder charges.

The contract is worth about EUR9 million.
