Trump's personal spiritual adviser arrives in Ukraine – photo

Pastor Mark Burns, the personal spiritual adviser to US President Donald Trump, has arrived in Ukraine on a visit. Source: Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Asman, as reported by European Pravda Details: Asman said that Burns had come to Ukraine at his invitation.

Asman described Burns as "a well-known figure in religious and political circles of the United States, whose voice today carries weight in shaping America's new strategy and policy".

During his visit, Burns visited Bucha, Irpin and Borodianka to see the consequences of the Russian crimes against Ukrainian civilians and to hear the memories of witnesses. "What he saw deeply affected him - he did not hide his pain, indignation and sincere compassion. I am sure that he will not keep these emotions and testimonies to himself.

Pastor Burns is a man who has the ability to be heard in places where big decisions are made. And I believe that the voice of truth from Ukraine will be brought to the very heart of the new American leadership," said the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine. Background:

  • Since Donald Trump returned to power on 20 January, few members of his administration have visited Ukraine.

    Among them are Keith Kellogg, Trump's Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

  • The day before, in an interview with NBC News, Donald Trump said that he was "pissed off" with Vladimir Putin for talking about an interim administration in Ukraine.
  • The US president also threatened to impose additional sanctions on Russian oil if Moscow did not come to the negotiating table and stop the fighting in Ukraine.
  • Trump announced that he will have another conversation with Putin this week to discuss Ukraine.
  • While speaking to journalists, Trump stated that Zelenskyy wants to withdraw from the mineral deal and has warned him of "big problems" if he does so.
