Ukraine returns prisoners who defended the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Zmiinyi and Mariupol

Ukraine has conducted another exchange of prisoners of war. This was reported by Ukrainian Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets. According to the Commissioner, 9 soldiers were returned home.

These are four military personnel of the Ukrainian Navy, two National Guard of Ukraine, two State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and one soldier of the Territorial Defense Forces. Two officers, and seven privates and sergeants were among the released from captivity. It is known that they were captured during operations to protect the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Zmiinyi Island and the city of Mariupol. Together with the military, three civilians, who were considered missing, were also brought home.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Ukraine had handed over 9 prisoners of war to them. Therefore, the exchange of prisoners of war took place under the "9 for 9" formula. This is the third exchange this week.

As previously reported, 35 soldiers were released from captivity on November 23, and on the 24th this number reached 50.
