ISW confirms liberation of Urozhaine village and gains near Robotyne

Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has said Ukrainian troops continued counteroffensive actions on at least three areas of the front on 16 August and advanced in the west of Zaporizhzhia Oblast and on the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. Source: the ISW Details: The ISW reported that geolocation footage published on 16 August shows that Ukrainian troops advanced to the northeast of Robotyne (10 km south of Orikhiv) in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

The Institute believes that Ukrainian forces have probably made more progress in the surrounding areas, following the fact they have been active for several weeks in the forest area northeast of this settlement. The ISW also noted that Ukrainian officials had reported the liberation of the village of Urozhaine (9 km south of Velyka Novosilka) on the border of Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk oblasts. The ISW emphasised that the 35th Marine Brigade had posted footage showing its personnel raising the Ukrainian flag in the village centre.

Quote from ISW: "Ukrainian reporting on the liberation of Urozhaine is in line with previous statements by Ukrainian officials about the liberation of other settlements in the area and recent reports by Russian forces that Russian units in the area were withdrawing.

Russian claims about Ukrainian assaults further south and east of the limits of the settlement further indicate that Ukrainian forces likely control the majority of the settlement."
