EU Court of Justice lifts sanctions off Russian businessman for first time
On 6 September, for the first time ever, the European Court of Justice granted a lawsuit from a Russian businessman, in which he asked the court to remove his name from the updated EU sanctions lists, which will be made public in September and allows the sanctions to be lifted. Source: Radio Liberty Details: This concerns Russian businessman Alexander Shulgin, who was included in the sanctions lists as the head of the Ozon Group, Russia's leading e-commerce platform, which brings significant revenues to the Russian budget.

In making the decision, the court took into account that Shulgin resigned as CEO of Ozon Group and resigned from the board of directors on 11 April 2022, after the European Union and Australia imposed sanctions on him. The EU Council previously agreed that they would not include Shulgin in the updated lists, which will be published in September, given the fragility of the case against the former businessman.
