General Staff: Defense Forces of Ukraine liberated Andriivka

Ukrainian Defense Forces have taken control of the village of Andriivka in the Bakhmut sector of Donetsk region. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this in a morning report on Friday, September 15. Currently, the Ukrainian troops are entrenching at the achieved borders.
"In the course of the assault operations, Ukrainian soldiers have liberated Andriivka in the Donetsk region, inflicted significant losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy, and are entrenching at the achieved borders," the statement said.
Andriivka on the unofficial map of hostilitiesSubsequently, the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the liberation of Andriivka: "As a result of the lightning operation, the Russian garrison of Andriivka was surrounded, cut off from the main forces and destroyed. As of now, the fighting continues, our units continue to lodgment on new positions." In two days, the 3rd Assault Brigade eliminated:
- Chief of Brigade Reconnaissance of the enemy;
- three battalion commanders;
- and almost the entire infantry of the 72nd Brigade of the Russian army, along with officers and a significant amount of equipment.
Ukrainian defenders have also had partial success in the area of Klishchiivka during the offensive.
Meanwhile, in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Bakhmut sector, Russian invaders continue to try to break through the Ukrainian defense near Bohdanivka. The advance of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Andriivka and Klishchiyivka became known the day before. This settlement is part of the Ivanivka Starosta municipality, which covers the villages of Ivanivske, Andriivka, Klishchiivka, Berkhivka, and Khromove.

Recently, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has said that the Defense Forces intend to liberate the settlement in the near future. In early September, a Russian crossing with armored vehicles was destroyed in the Bakhmut sector near Klishchiivka.
