A drone hit an oil depot in Sochi

A drone hit a Russian oil depot in the Krasnodar Krai. Local media reported on this. Early in the morning, around 5:00 a.m., an unknown drone attacked the Russian oil depot in the Adler district of Sochi, causing one of the fuel tanks to catch fire.

Surveillance video captured the moment when an unknown object hit one of the tanks at a right angle. It was moving at a relatively low speed, which is typical for propeller drones. According to local media, a tank with 1,200 tons of diesel fuel is on fire. Firefighters are currently working at the scene, with the fire covering about 100 square meters.

Preliminary, no one was killed or injured as a result of the strike. It is worth noting that the Russian infrastructure facility is located 700 kilometers away from Kherson along a direct flight path through occupied Crimea.

Given the difficulty of flying through enemy-controlled territories, it can be assumed that the drone could have been launched in the Black Sea directly from a boat.

Generally, today's incident continues a series of attacks by the Russian military and strategic facilities involved in the war against Ukraine. Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, noted that one of the main goals of the new massive campaign of kamikaze drone strikes is to damage military production facilities.

In May of this year, unknown drones successfully attacked the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai. As a result of the strike, one of the fuel oil distillation units was disabled, and a large-scale fire was caused.

Locals noted that the explosion was heard several kilometers from the location of the refinery.
