“Russian World” and hiding places for SRG: law enforcement officers inspect Pokrovskyy Cathedral in Boryspil

Details: The SSU reported that the inspections are being carried out to prevent the use of religious communities affiliated with the centers of influence in Russia as a hub for the "Russian world" and to protect the population from provocations and terrorist attacks. The SSU officers are also checking data on the use of the premises of the UOC-MP for hiding sabotage and reconnaissance groups, foreign citizens, and storing weapons, etc.
Within the framework of the current legislation, law enforcement officers are inspecting the territory and premises in order to detect prohibited items.

- On 1 December, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the National Security and Defense Council had instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to propose that the Verkhovna Rada institute a ban on the activities the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine, and it also initiated a review of the legality of the UOC-MP's presence at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (Monastery of the Caves).
- During the past few weeks, the Security Service of Ukraine has conducted a number of searches of UOC-MP premises in Kyiv and many oblasts.
The searches are related to the propaganda of the "Russian world" in UOC-MP churches.
Some priests have been notified of suspicion.
- In particular, searches were carried out in Zhytomyr, Rivne, Zakarpattia and other oblasts.
