Pro-Palestinians to march through Hanley in protest at Israeli Gaza …

Pro-Palestinians are to stage a protest march in Stoke-on-Trent. They will gather at Hanley Park bandstand at 1pm on Sunday, October 22 before marching through Hanley[1] from 2pm and finishing outside the BBC Radio Stoke studios in Cheapside. Stoke-on-Trent Palestinian Solidarity Campaign is behind the protest.

It has the support of local mosques, Sumud Palestine, Leek Palestine Solidarity Campaign, SCANS Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, and North Staffordshire Trades Council. Group leader Jonas Martin said: "We are protesting on Sunday as our government has failed. The international community is failing and the safeguards we have, our media, to keep them in check has failed magnificently.

"We are on the brink of seeing the complete annihilation of 2.4 million people in Gaza - 2.4 million people being collectively punished and our government and the opposition have failed to act. They have been bystanders in allowing Israel to commit war crimes. We will keep coming out, we ask people of conscience to join us."

The latest tension follows a deadly attack by Palestinian militant group Hamas on Israel on October 7. It resulted in the deaths of at least 1,400 Israelis and more than 200 soldiers and civilians being taken to Gaza as hostages. In response, more than 4,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in air and military strikes carried out by the Israeli military.
