Belarusians have no motivation to fight against Ukraine – Head of Rivne Oblast Military Administration

Vitaliy Koval, Head of Rivne Oblast Military Administration, which borders Belarus, believes that Belarusians have neither motivation nor idea for which they can take part in the war on the Russian side.   Source: Koval's interview with Ukrainska Pravda  Quote: "There is not much motivation there [that Belarusians have - ed.].

Colleagues said that when wounded Russians from the Kyiv Oblast were admitted to a hospital in Belarus, they were hysterical there. Belarusians saw the Russian wounded, saw this fury of war." Details: Head of the Rivne Oblast Military Administration thinks that only some Belarusians could take part in hostilities for money. "What is the motive, what will they fight for?

I do not know. For banknotes? Well, some of them, yes, they don't care where to fight.

But what about the idea?

There is no idea," Koval said.

Background:

  • At the end of November, the military intelligence of the Ministry of Defence did not observe the creation of a powerful offensive group on the territory of Belarus, similar to the one that was deployed in January-February 2022.
  • Early in December, Serhii Nayev, Lieutenant General, the commander of  Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, assured the press that the Ukrainian troops were preparing for an adequate response against the background of the accumulation of troops in Belarus.
  • On December 12, the State Border Service of Ukraine reported that joint Russian-Belarusian military training was taking place at the training grounds of the Republic of Belarus, not near the border with Ukraine.
