The spy was detained in the Chernihiv region. The SSU reported on this. The detained Russian agent had been on the territory of Ukraine for more than a year and was waiting for instructions from the Russians.
In October 2023, he began collecting relevant information. First and foremost, he was interested in the locations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces personnel and equipment deployment bases. He tried to establish the exact coordinates of the Ukrainian Armed Forces headquarters involved in the defense of Ukraine's northern borders.

According to available data, the enemy needed this intelligence to prepare artillery strikes on Ukraine's border and conduct sabotage raids. The SSU counter-intelligence detained a Russian agent during a regular mission in the area of a possible location of one of the Ukrainian Defense Forces facilities. According to the investigation, the detainee is a 20-year-old man from Novhorod-Siverskyi Community in the Chernihiv region.
He was recruited by the Russian Federation's Federal Security Service (FSB) in March 2022, during the temporary occupation of the region's part. He received the call sign "Jester" from the FSB and instructions to conduct intelligence and subversive activities in favor of the aggressor country.

In October 2023, the Russian agent was contacted by his "supervisor," a staff member of the FSB border guard department in the Bryansk oblast, and assigned an intelligence task. To carry out these tasks, the traitor traveled around the region in his own car and filmed the possible locations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces with his mobile phone camera. He transmitted the gathered information to the aggressor via a specially created email account.
To maintain confidentiality, the enemy spy erased all texts as soon as an FSB representative viewed them. The traitor was promised a monetary reward for fulfilling the assigned tasks. During the search at the detainee's place of residence, the SSU found evidence of his illegal activity.
SSU investigators have now served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). He faces life imprisonment. As Militarnyi previously reported, the SSU exposed a former police officer who worked for the Russian FSB and passed on information about the movement and location of the Defense Forces in Mykolaiv and Odesa regions.
The detainee was a former law enforcement officer who was dismissed from the National Guard of Ukraine in March 2023.
He lived in Mykolaiv, and in the period from 2016 to 2020, he was in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
In addition, he repeatedly traveled to the territory of the Russian Federation, where he was recruited by the Russian special service.
