The decision is aimed at continuing EUMAM's support in building the capacity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "The financial amount is increased by EUR194 million totalling EUR255 million," it is noted.

As reported, the EU decided to create the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine on October 17, 2022, for a period of up to two years. In August 2023, the Ukrainian authorities recognized an important contribution provided by EUMAM Ukraine and asked to expand the training.

EUMAM Ukraine was to be expanded for the National Guard, the State Border Service, the National Police, and the Security Service of Ukraine under the operational control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Within the EU training mission, Germany also trains the Ukrainian military in decontamination after the use of nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare and poisonous substances. The training is conducted on special HEP 70 decontamination vehicles, six of which have already been handed over to Ukraine by Germany.

In turn, the UK equipped 30 thousand servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were trained in Britain.
