This is reported on the official website of the German company. Tens of thousands of 155 mm artillery shells were ordered by an unnamed NATO country. This country supports Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invaders and provides long-term military assistance.

The shells will be produced by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions, the Group's newly acquired Spanish subsidiary.

The ammunition will be delivered to the Ukrainian Defense Forces in 2025. Production and delivery of approximately 40,000 rounds for Ukraine from a previous order is planned to take place in 2024. As recently as mid-October 2023, the German government placed an order with Rheinmetall for over 100,000 rounds of 155mm ammunition earmarked for Ukraine - once again from Rheinmetall Expal Munitions.

And in early November, Rheinmetall received an order from the German government to supply Ukraine with around 100,000 rounds of 120mm mortar ammunition.

Deliveries should start in the near future and continue for the next two years. Therefore, the average volume of deliveries may be slightly more than 4,000 shells per month. Another framework contract for October provides for the transfer of tens of thousands of 155-mm L15 shells to Ukraine.

Delivery is scheduled to begin in 2024.

In 2024, Rheinmetall plans a massive increase in production capacity at its plants in Germany, Spain, South Africa and Australia, ensuring annual production of up to 700,000 artillery shells.
